Dorota Kołbuk Konieczny and Judyta Dulnik completed a scientific internship under the mentorship of Professor Ana Maria Ferraria and Professor Ana Maria Botelho do Rego as part of the BIOLIGAMED project.
Their stay in April 2024 at the Biospectroscopy and Interfaces Research Group (BSIRG) at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, provided a unique opportunity to advance the BIOLIGAMED research project and conduct research on X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
XPS is particularly useful for investigating surface issues in polymeric materials, which are commonly used as structural elements and coatings. It is essential for developing new polymers, detecting contaminants, and conducting performance evaluations and failure analyses. Furthermore, modifying polymer surfaces is often necessary to enhance properties such as adhesion and wettability.
The stay in BSIRG was possible due to funding from the Norway Grants 2014–2021 via the National Centre for Research and Development number. NOR/SGS/BioLigaMed/0272/2020.
